Are you a pre-teen looking for a fun adventure and a step back in time? Check out Dino Park Rasnov in Romania!
This awesome dinosaur-themed amusement park is a must-visit for dinosaur lovers of all ages. Here’s my guide to making the most of your Dino Park Rasnov experience.
I first went to Dino Park Rasnov, the largest dinosaur park in South-Eastern Europe, on my 11th birthday and then again this year.
Both times I had a great time – ok, the second one I wasn’t feeling very well (ate something that didn’t agree with me) – but that is not the park’s fault, right?

A Pre-teen’s Guide to Dino Park Rasnov, Romania
Getting There
Dino Park Rasnov is located just 15 minutes outside of Brasov, Romania. The park is easy to get to by car or bus from Brasov’s city center. Just follow the well-marked signs showing directions to Rasnov and Dino Park.
If you are coming from a different city, then you should look Dino Park on Google Maps or Waze (my parents use Waze) – you will find it at Strada Cetății – Cetatii Street.
It is a 3-4 hour drive – from Bucharest – but I have to say that the road is also interesting.
Sometimes, I fall asleep, and I miss the spectacular landscapes along the way, but other times I enjoy the scenery.
My mom prepares some snacks for the road and drinks – sandwiches, fruits, and biscuits so we are covered.
How to plan your visit to Dino Park Rasnov
Apart from how long it takes you to get there, here are other things to know about Dino Park Rasnov.
When you get there, you will park the car.
The restaurant is in the parking lot. There is only this restaurant. There are some places on the route where you can get something – ice cream and stuff, but not cooked food.
So either plan on eating on arrival (think if it is OK for you to go on the mountain stomach full) or before leaving for home.
To get to Dino Park, you can climb – a 15-20 minute, slow walk climb.
Or there are some small trains pulled by tractors. You can buy a one-way ticket or a round trip. They are not expensive. They are very well organised – many trains.

I have to tell you that this was a surprise for me – and I totally liked it! We went with 4 different trains so far – me happy 😀 !
Dino Park is the first stop on the route.

You can get down here and, after a few hours, when you finished visiting the park, you can take the train further up – a 10-minute walking climb.
You will get to the Rasnov Fortress. At the moment it is closed for renovation, but the landscape is still really nice.

We always go up to the fortress, spend some time there too – take some pictures.
Then we hop on another train that gets us back to the parking lot.

Last time we went here (on August 19th) we saw a concert by a band my parents like – OK, I like some songs too, to be honest. There was also a film, but I was too sleepy and wanted to get home, so we didn’t stay.

The trains are available only until 18.30 – so we had to walk down. It is not hard – there is a cobblestone road, so a little bit of effort for my mom (especially), but in less than 20 minutes we were getting to our car.
Park Hours and Tickets
Dino Park Rasnov is open every day from 10 AM to 6 PM (7 PM on Saturday and Sunday.).
Ticket prices vary by age. For kids, 3 years and older, the price is 32 lei (around $6.5 or 6.3 Euro), and for adults, the price is 42 lei (around $8.5 or 8.3 Euro.)
If you get there by car, the price is 12 lei (around $2.5 or Euro) for a day. You can buy the tickets on arrival, don’t worry.
Dino Park Attractions

The main attraction at Dino Park is getting up close and personal with life-size dinosaur models! There are over 120 dinosaurs spread out across the hilly forest park.
There is a route – which makes sure you see all the dinosaurs.
There are plenty of places to take pictures.

I like the jokes – yes, you got it right. There are jokes in the park – one of the fun things to do at Dino Park Rasnov. You’ll see along the route some wooden plaques – on one side there is a question, and if you flip it over, you’ll get the answer.
What can I tell you about the dinosaurs is that they are impressive. They look alive – some have some special effects. And they are to scale – therefore, big!

There is also a nice volcano – also with special effects – erupting and all.
Besides dinosaurs, there is also a special climbing course in the trees – rather difficult, but totally safe.
There are also a few other activities – a swing, another climbing course, and more.

There is a small train that offers a short tour of the park – though it only covers a small size of the park. I didn’t take this tour.
There is also a cinema – open air. If no films are projected, this is an excellent place to take a break and rest your feet.

Close to the entrance, there is also a small museum dedicated to birds – dinosaurs. Very interesting!

There are also many workshops here – painting, modeling, and such. I admit, they are not for me. Cool, but not for me, so I cannot tell you how they are.
But I saw kids leaving with a smile and something they worked on, so I guess they are fun. Extra charges apply.
Food & Shopping
There isn’t a proper restaurant inside Dino Park. But stay with me, I’ll tell you where you can get good food at affordable prices – as my mom says they are, here.
We have at least a bottle – 2 liters – of water with us when getting inside the park. Usually, it’s 2 such bottles, if we plan to spend more time here.
When exiting the Dino Park there is a booth where you can buy ice cream. You can also find here boiled corn.
At the base of the tour – in the parking lot – there is a restaurant, as I already mentioned. Here is where we always eat. The food is good – we liked it each time!
The Dino Store is packed with cool dinosaur souvenirs like t-shirts, plush toys, hats, mugs, key chains, and more. It’s a great place to pick up the perfect dino-themed gift or treat yourself!
I bought a small 3D cover notebook, and I think that next time I’ll buy an orange baby dinosaur I saw this year but said I could live without and now I am thinking of it…
You can also take creative photos with 3D augmented reality dinosaurs at photo points around the park.
Tips for an Awesome Visit to Dino Park Rasnov
Next on this Dino Park Rasnov guide are the things to know before visiting.
Here are my top tips for an awesome pre-teen-approved day at Dino Park Rasnov:
- Arrive early, 10-11 AM. This way, you can spend as much time as you wish here.
- If possible, visit during the week – fewer people come here. My birthday was on a Monday last year, and it was great. There were people – but fewer than this weekend.
- Plan to spend some time here. As mentioned, you can spend a few hours.
- Don’t miss the fortress. Even closed the area is impressive and the fortress is as well.
- Pack sunscreen, hats, and water bottles – there’s lots of walking outdoors.
- Wear cool dino or jungle-themed clothes to really get into the theme!
- If you are visiting for the first time, see the outdoor dinosaurs exhibited first, then decide what you want to do apart from that. (tree climbing course etc.)
- Save time for gift shopping and photos at the end before leaving. Do not buy things at the entrance – more things to take care of. Wait until you are leaving – it is highly unlikely that you won’t find the same product. They are well-packed.
- If you go there on a Saturday, pay attention to the clock – if you buy a round trip with train, you need to exit the park at 18.20 – 18.25 the latest train goes up (gets to the base at 18.30). The park is open until 7PM on a Sunday and you can miss your train ride.
